Board Member
Dale Bean is a consultant in Respiratory Care Education delivered through distance education. Since the founding of California College for Health Sciences’ (CCHS) Respiratory Therapy distance education program 46 years ago, he has worked continuously with various universities and colleges nationwide. In addition, he has pioneered international respiratory care programs to upgrade current staff and train new staff in the workplace.
His professional goal has always been giving the patients the best care possible by helping meet any staffing crisis affecting a hospital’s Respiratory Care Services worldwide. Setting up educational partnerships with hospitals to bring educational programs into the facilities to cross train current staff or develop new staff goes a long way in meeting patient care needs.
Starting his respiratory career over 55 years ago as an OJT led him into one of the early ASRT programs which opened many doors. This included ICU specialist, recruitment by the Royal Jordan Medical Corp to set up respiratory care services and a training program in government medical centers which led to training RT staff throughout the Middle East. Back in the states he worked setting up hospital-based technician and therapist program while continuing to revamp respiratory departments.
All these years of developing respiratory care departments and hospital based educational programs led him to CCHS and the development of distance education programs. This resulted in bringing respiratory care education to hospitals that needed staffing and the upgrading or cross training of current hospital staff.
Dale is considered the “Father of Respiratory Therapy Distant Learning” and has now become involved in creating seamless educational opportunities from the associate degree level to the bachelor's degree level. During Covid, his distance learning skills in respiratory therapy education set the stage for him being utilized as an online expert.
He has served on the NA2RC board for three years and holds the seamless venture from associate to baccalaureate close in his philosophy.
More than any other characteristic, Dale Bean cares about people. He has spent his professional career helping other people to become qualified and skilled to take care of other people.
